Volunteer Citizen of the Year

Let's celebrate together the unselfish attitude in our community where people care enough to volunteer their time.

Please take the time to complete a nomination form as it is so important to recognize our valuable community volunteers. Nomination forms are available from the link below, at CIVC offices, or by calling us at (780) 459-6666. Remember, please provide as much information as possible about the volunteer contributions of your nominee, to ensure our selections committee can make an appropriate choice!

Deadline for entries is 4:30 p.m., March 28, 2008.

Since 1965 the community of St. Albert has been recognizing outstanding volunteers. Nominations for this award are received from the community and the person(s) chosen is then honoured during a special awards event.

The Volunteer Citizen of the Year Award recognizes an individual or couple whose exceptional volunteerism has enhanced our community. If you know someone who has devoted considerable time volunteering, nominate them for this award and help ensure they know their efforts are appreciated.

The person(s) chosen is honoured during a special awards event. This year the Awards Ceremony featuring a Brunch will take place on Saturday, May 3, 2008 at St. Albert Alliance Church Hall. Tickets for this event are $20 per person and will be available for purchase at CIVC.

NOMINATION PROCEDURE:

Using the official nomination form, information must be printed or typed and be as comprehensive as possible, with extra pages attached as required.

• No personal presentations will be considered.
• The selection committee will select up to five finalists.
• The selection committee will notify finalists and their nominator(s) of their selection.
The finalists and their nominators will each receive a complimentary ticket to the Volunteer Citizen of the Year/Leaders of Tomorrow ceremony.
• All nominee’s and winner’s names will be kept strictly confidential prior to the award presentation.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:

• Nominees must be a St. Albert resident.
• Nominee’s efforts should have a positive and lasting impact on the community or organization, and may have taken place at any time, in any locale.
• Nominees may be individuals or couples.
• All finalists must be available to attend the Volunteer Citizen of the Year/Leaders of Tomorrow Awards Ceremony on May 3, 2008 where the winner(s) will be announced.

CONSIDERATIONS:

The selection committee will consider:

• the scope of the effort(s)
• the means by which such contribution was initiated or pursued
• the amount and length of time involved (please include number of years)
• the effectiveness (results) of the contribution
• the extent to which the contribution exceeds the expectations of a volunteer, employee, citizen
• the comprehensiveness and diversity of community involvement
