Types of Matches:

  • Adult to Child (volunteers ages 18+)
  • Teen to Child ("Peer Match" - volunteers ages 16-18)
  • Couple/Family to Child

Family Situations:

(may include any or all situations as listed)

  • Single parent families
  • Special needs youth
  • Special needs parents/guardians (ie: disability, grandparents, over-extended)
  • Low-income families
  • Children with low self esteem and/or confidence

Moving Line

How do Children Become Involved?

  1. Child is referred to our program by...
    • Parent/guardian contacting Sidekicks
    • Their school, social service agency, or clergy contacting Sidekicks
    • Relative or friend contacting Sidekicks
    • Self-referral by the child contacting Sidekicks
  2. Parental consent is obtained; from both parents if joint custody
  3. The family submits an application
  4. An interview is conducted by the Caseworker. (The parent and child are interviewed separately in order to protect privacy of all parties.)
